DonoLink UK FAQ: tips, fees and payouts
How tips, fees and payouts work on DonoLink in the UK.
Which payment methods can a viewer use?
Debit and credit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay work from day one. Pay by Bank and Revolut Pay appear once Stripe has activated them for your account. Checkout shows the options that are live for your page. PayPal is coming soon.
What does a tip cost?
The account is free and there is no subscription. DonoLink charges 3.5% per successful tip, and Stripe charges its own fee to your connected account: 1.5% + 20p for a standard UK card, more for premium and non-UK cards, and 0.5% + 20p for Pay by Bank.
How much do I keep from a £10 tip?
With a standard UK card, Stripe takes £0.35 and DonoLink £0.35, so £9.30 reaches you. From a £25 tip you keep £23.54. The viewer can choose to cover the DonoLink fee.
When is a tip confirmed?
A tip counts once Stripe confirms the payment. Card and wallet payments confirm within seconds; a Pay by Bank payment usually confirms moments after the viewer approves it in their banking app.
Does a viewer need a DonoLink account?
No. Viewers tip from your public page without an account. You need a DonoLink account and a completed Stripe connection to receive tips.
Where does the money go?
Tips are created directly on your own connected Stripe account, not held by DonoLink. Stripe pays out to your UK bank account in pounds on your payout schedule, and your dashboard shows each tip with its fees and net amount.
Can a tip be charged back?
A card payment can be disputed by the cardholder with their bank; Stripe then notifies you and you can respond with evidence. A Pay by Bank payment cannot be charged back, which makes it a safe choice for larger tips.
Is a tip a charitable donation?
No. A tip is a voluntary payment to you as a creator, not a gift to a charity, so Gift Aid does not apply.
Do I pay tax on my tips?
Usually, yes: tips linked to your streaming count as income. Under HMRC's £1,000 trading allowance the first £1,000 of trading income a year is tax-free; above that you normally register for Self Assessment. This is general information, not tax advice.
Can a large channel get a different rate?
Yes. For consistently high tip volume, DonoLink can agree an individual rate. Contact us with your expected volume; a custom rate only applies after written confirmation.
Who is behind DonoLink?
DonoLink is a trading name of Tovix, a Dutch sole proprietorship based in Eindhoven, registered with the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce (KVK 98227475, VAT NL005316890B06). Stripe processes payments on each creator's connected account. Contact: support@donolink.nl.
Is it safe to tip with DonoLink?
Stripe processes every payment, and the money goes to the creator's own connected Stripe account. DonoLink never sees or stores full card numbers or bank login details. Always check that the creator shared the link themselves.
Can I use DonoLink if I am under 18?
Creators must be 18 or over. Viewers must be 18 or over, or have permission from a parent or guardian.
